When passing by the Wet n Wild stand for the first time, I couldn't resist adding a couple of lipsticks to my shopping basket. (Yes, I have dozens already. Yes, I still need more, dammit!) Especially once I saw that they were only R29.95. (I had to triple check.)
Now, for that price, I wasn't expecting the lipstick to change my life. I was hoping for it to have decent colour pay-off, feel comfortable and to be an inexpensive way to have fun with a new colour. At that price, they're also perfect for when you need a bit of retail therapy - nothing cheers me up like having a new lipstick to play with!
The first colour I tried was "Cherry Frost". I love cherry reds - I find that they work well against my fair cool-toned skin - but I don't actually have a cherry red in my collection anymore. The lipstick applied smoothly and evenly with excellent pigmentation. It felt moisturizing and creamy, and had a faint spearmint scent on application. On my lips, it lasted for about 3 hours (including a cup of tea) which isn't too shabby. It faded fairly evenly and didn't leave any weird dry patchy bits, so it was a breeze to reapply. It doesn't stain your lips either, so if you mess up a bit on application you can easily clean up the edges.
My overall impression: I really love this colour. While I'll still be sticking to my favourite lipstick brands, I'm going to be picking up a few more of these in fun colours when I need a pick-me-up! Also, these are great if you want to try a new colour for the first time. Not confident wearing red lipstick? Play around with inexpensive brands first so that you can find a colour that works for you before investing in a good quality one.

Red is definitely your colour, you look stunning!
ReplyDeleteThank you Imka :) *blush* I do love wearing red lipstick, esp on lazy Saturdays where all I did was yoga and tv (the day I took the photo above). Instant glamour :)
DeleteYou look stunning in red! I'm still a little scared to try it... eventhough they say any woman over 30 can pull it off... uhmmm. But at R30 I'll give it a go!
ReplyDeleteI was scared to wear reds at the beginning but the more I wore red, the more I grew to love it on me! I love cheap products for this reason - it's a guilt-free way of trying something outside of your comfort zone.
