Liebster Blog Award

This weekend I was excited to be nominated for a Liebster Blog award by Charlene from Gee Whiskers! (if you're not already reading her blog, go do so, it's wonderful!). It's always lovely to hear that people actually enjoy your own little corner of the internet, and to build friendships and connections through the blogosphere.

Official Rules 1. Select 11 or less if you don’t have more bloggers for the award.2. They must also answer the 11 questions the ‘tagger’ has set for them.3. They must create 11 more questions to ask bloggers they have decided to tag.4. They must then choose 11 bloggers {Please choose bloggers that’s not already nominated on this list.}5. These lucky bloggers must then be told.6. There should be no tag backs to the person that nominated you.

Here are the 11 questions that Charlene asked all her nominees:

  1. What is your favourite colour? Most definitely, purple! I will admit to having a purple addiction. It took massive amounts of self control to not have an all-purple blog ;) (I ultimately wanted something a little bit more airy and simplistic)
  2. What is your favourite day of the week? Saturdays. Sometimes I have to work, but if I'm lucky, Saturdays mean wine tasting, shopping, relaxing with friends, braais or generally enjoying the awesomeness that is life in Stellenbosch.
  3. What is your favourite animal? As far as domestic animals are concerned, I'm a dog person :) Just love them all! Slightly broader, I absolutely love cheetahs. I'm also fascinated by snakes such as Boa Constrictors.
  4. Why did you start your blog? This is actually the 3rd blog that I've started, but the only one that I continued to be passionate about after more than a few weeks. Originally it started out of a realization that I loved to share what I was wearing, using, doing, thinking, and so on with my friends and followers. None of my social networking platforms were sufficient for what I wanted to do and get out of the experience, so I decided to try my hand at a blog again. It was a slow start with plenty of wobbles, but I'm starting to find my footing and define the kind of blogger that I would like to be.
  5. If you had a movie made of your life, what would the opening song be? If my life was made into a movie (although I don't know who would watch it!), I would like the opening song to be "Bread and Butter" by Hugo (listen over here). And the movie trailer would definitely have to be set to "Love and Loss" by Two Steps from Hell. (over here)
  6. What one thing always makes you smile, regardless of the mood you are in? My "puppy" (she's already 7, but is still as small as a puppy, and most certainly still acts like one!). I miss her so much now that I live in Stellenbosch, but whenever I go visit my parents, nothing cheers me up like the way she enthusiastically launches at me the second I walk through the door, so excited to see me you would think I'd returned from the dead. Makes me smile and laugh even when I'm sobbing.
  7. If you had the option to go to the future and see what your life is like, would you go? I think I would. There are so many directions my life can take: I'd love to see which path I end up on.
  8. What is your dream job? This is my struggle at the moment! I'm currently finishing up my MSc, planning on starting my PhD early next year. That puts off job decisions for a few more years, but soon I'm going to have to decide if I would like to go into teaching, academia, industry, etc. Right now, the problem is that there are too many things I find interesting.
  9. If you could choose one brand to get free stuff from for the rest of your life, what brand would it be? Technologically, it would have to be Apple :) As far as beauty brands go, it's difficult to say as I haven't got one firm favourite, but maybe Inglot, as I'd always have a rainbow of colours to choose from!
  10. Mention one thing you did today that made someone smile? I was working from home today, so I didn't actually see anyone (apart from my brother, who is my flatmate), but I did get my bff to laugh when I chatted to her on the phone. We hadn't talked for a few days, so it's always fun just to catch up, talk nonsense and share trivial funniness from our lives. Plus we made shopping plans, and if that doesn't make a shopaholic woman smile, what does ;)
  11. What hopes do you have for your blog? It's still early days, and I'm enjoying every little milestone that I hit. I don't have extravagant dreams, but I just hope that people continue to enjoy reading what I have to say and share, and that I can grow a small community of readers that interact and share :)

Now, most of my favourite blogs have already been nominated for this award, either in this round or previously, so I'm not going to make a list. Instead, if you are reading this, you are part of the Whimsy Is Forever community, and so I would love to learn more about you :) If you would like to join in, my 11 questions are listed below. You can either answer them in a blog post, or answer them in the comments section below (especially if you're a FB or twitter friend and haven't got a blog of your own - I know you are out there ;) ). Guys and girls, this is what I would like to hear from you:
  1. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
  2. What's the bravest thing you've done?
  3. What is your favourite trend for Spring? (or Autumn, if you're in the Northern Hemisphere)
  4. What are you reading at the moment?
  5. What family of fragrances do you prefer?
  6. Do you meticulously plan out your future, or do you prefer to live in the moment?
  7. What made you smile today?
  8. What is your guilty pleasure?
  9. What would be your idea of a perfect first date.
  10. What is your bad habit that you always vow to quit, but never succeed to?
  11. If you could choose one word to describe yourself, what would it be? (Mine's "whimsical"!)
